Job Description:

As a Fabrication Shop Worker, you will be an integral part of a manufacturing or construction environment, contributing to the fabrication and assembly of various products. Your primary responsibility will be to assist in the fabrication process, working under the guidance of supervisors or more experienced fabricators. Your key duties and responsibilities may include:

1. Material Preparation: Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, or work orders to determine specifications and requirements for the fabrication process. Prepare materials by cutting, shaping, or otherwise manipulating them using hand or power tools.

2. Welding and Joining: Operate welding equipment, such as MIG, TIG, or arc welders, to join metal components or structures according to specifications. Perform welding tasks with accuracy, ensuring proper fit and weld quality.

3. Machine Operation: Utilize various machinery and equipment, such as saws, drills, shears, presses, or bending machines, to shape and form materials. Set up and adjust machines as needed for specific fabrication tasks.

4. Assembly and Construction: Assist in the assembly and construction of fabricated parts or structures. Align and fit components, secure them with fasteners or welding, and ensure proper dimensions and structural integrity.

5. Quality Control: Conduct visual inspections and measurements to ensure that fabricated parts meet required specifications and quality standards. Identify and address any defects or discrepancies, making necessary adjustments or repairs.

6. Material Handling: Safely handle and transport materials, including lifting, carrying, and positioning them using appropriate equipment or techniques. Adhere to safety guidelines to prevent injuries and maintain a clean and organized work area.

7. Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks on fabrication equipment, such as cleaning, lubricating, or replacing parts as necessary. Report any equipment malfunctions or issues to supervisors for timely repairs.

8. Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with other team members, including fabricators, supervisors, or engineers, to ensure effective workflow and problem-solving. Communicate any challenges, suggestions, or improvements related to the fabrication process.

9. Safety Compliance: Follow all safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe working environment. Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required and report any potential hazards or incidents to supervisors.

10. Cleaning and Maintenance: Maintain cleanliness and tidiness in the shop by regularly cleaning shelves, displays, counters, and other work areas, as well as ensuring the availability of shopping baskets or carts.

11. Light Assembly or Packaging: Help with the assembly or packaging of products, following specific instructions or guidelines to prepare them for display or shipment.

Desired Skills and Experience:

– High school diploma or equivalent qualification.

– Previous experience in fabrication, welding, or a related field is preferred.

– Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, engineering drawings, or work orders.

– Knowledge of various fabrication techniques, tools, and equipment.

– Familiarity with welding processes, including MIG, TIG, or arc welding.

– Basic math skills for measurements, calculations, and material estimation.

– Physical stamina and strength to handle materials and operate fabrication equipment.

– Attention to detail and accuracy in fabrication tasks.

– Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
